THE WRESTLER

THE WRESTLER is one of the best films I've seen this year. It's ultra-violent, and not for the average moviegoer, but it's very well written and shot, and the acting is phenomenal. Mickey Rourke's face tells a story without having to say a word. Marisa Tomei is also excellent. I would expect several Oscar nominations.

There's not much else to say except that it's a difficult movie to watch, but rewarding in its own disturbed way.

Interesting, isn't it? Not a single gun shot... just "average" wrestling, but it is a horrible, painful experience to watch people have that done to their bodies. Another proof that if you see the characters as humans, it doesn't take much to make one wince. Performances were excellent all the way around... This goes into wide release this weekend, but most won't like it's non-Hollywood style (as is typical of Aronofsky).

There is an excellent 3 part interview that Howard Stern did with Aronofsky available at

I was glad to see it get nominations. I have been avoiding watching BENJAMIN'S BUTTHOLE because it looks putrid, but now I'll have to see it.
